Bruce William Snyder

April 11, 1935 — January 28, 2019

Bruce was born in Detroit, MI to William and Elenora Snyder on April11, 1935.  He had one sister Donna Williams. They all preceded him in death.  He married his high school sweetheart Janice on Sept 11th 1954.  Everyone said that the marriage would not last.  They fooled everyone, they celebrated 64 years together.   Bruce and Janice were blessed with three children.  Randal (Marsha), Allen (Eva deceased), and Jacqueline (Stephen). Allen passed away in 2010.   They have seven grandchildren, Robert, Sarah, Danielle, Joshua, Rachel, Timothy, and Jonathan.  There are eight great grandchildren, Carissa, Natalie, Noah, Allen, Carter, John, Kellan, and Trent.  The family was raised in Redford and then Westland, Michigan.  Bruce worked for the Kroger Company for 45years as a store manager.  He retired in 1997.

After retirement he moved to Caseville, Michigan, a place where they had vacationed. He lived there for 22 years.  He loved the quiet community and the slower lifestyle.  There he made many new friends.  He and Janice joined a golf and country club and enjoyed many years golfing and socializing. They both loved to travel and took many wonderful trips, including 24 cruises to many exotic locales. Spending time with their family was one of his pleasures.  Bruce took his entire family on many vacations, including Disney World (they took 5 of the grandchildren, without the parents), Duck NC, where he rented a beach house, Jekyll Island, GA. During the summer months he had several of the grandchildren up to Caseville to take golf lessons.  The children loved to come to his home in Caseville, the condo was on a small lake and they could swim, fish and take walks in the woods.

In February 2016 Bruce and Jan moved to Maryland to be closer to Jackie and her family due to the fact that Bruce had become wheelchair bound and Jan needed help caring for him.  Bruce always had a beautiful smile and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was a gentle person and kept his beautiful smile and upbeat personality to the end even through all the tough times.  He was a devoted husband and father and will be truly missed.

You may make a donation in Bruce's name to the Arthritis Foundation, 1355 Peachtree St NE, Suite 600, Atlanta,GA 30309 or to a Charity of you choice.
