Caroline Lucy Reid

January 14, 1961 - November 8, 2012

Caroline “Lucy” Reid, daughter of Bernadette Ellie Reid-Jordan (deceased), passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the age of 51. Lucy spent her childhood in her native home of Tobago, where her free-spirited nature blossomed and she enjoyed many adventures exploring her grandparents’ orchard and roaming on the island’s beautiful seashores. At the age of 14, she immigrated to the United States to join her mother.

After graduating from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland, in 1979, Lucy worked as a Nursing Assistant at Presidential Manor Nursing Home in Hyattsville, Maryland, for 12 years. She took utmost pride in her work and loved helping her patients in any way she could.

Lucy was a loving person with a quiet demeanor and an infectious laugh. She delighted in cooking and spending time with little children. She made no distinctions in helping others—be it siblings/extended family, friends, neighbors, or strangers.

When life and her illness began to take its toll, she bore her pain in silence and with dignity.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Karlene Reid; one brother, Anwar Dixon; three aunts, Claudette Reid-Pierre, Dr. Kaifa Al Jabbar, and Ann Reid- King; three uncles, Deacon Casimir Reid, Wister “Mush” Reid, and David Reid Jr.; foster mother, Mrs. Myrtle Easley; and a host of cousins, extended family, and devoted friends.
