Anne M. Herrick

Anne Seaton Milliken Herrick, 78, of Bowie, Maryland passed away on December 31, 2008. Anne was born in Hannibal, Missouri in 1930 to Lorena Belle and Merwin Milliken. Her brother Merwin, Jr. preceded her in death.Anne is survived by her husband, Dr. David E. Herrick and their children, Thomas A. Herrick, Virginia Herrick OHara and James D. Herrick, and two grandsons Evan and and Peter OHara.Anne received a BA in music from Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas in 1953. She taught music at Concordia, Kansas High School and married David E. Herrick in 1953. She assisted her husband in his veterinary practice in Meriden, Kansas, and raised three children.In 1966 the family moved to Bowie, Maryland, when David became Staff Veterinarian at the USDA. Anne resumed her teaching career at Meadowbrook Elementary School in 1967 and pursued graduate course work in education at Bowie State College. She retired from teaching in 1981, and became active as a craftsperson in basketry and textiles. She was a volunteer librarian at the Bowie Genealogical Society, and an avid genealogist who researched and published her familys history.Viewing will be held on Monday, January 5th from 6-9 p.m. at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 N.W. Crain Highway (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD. Funeral services and interment will be held Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, KS, on January 8.
