Elmer R. Higgs

On Saturday, January 24, 2009, Elmer R. Higgs, a 19 year resident of Crofton, MD, formerly of Bowie, MD, passed at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. He was born in Washington, D.C. on June 3, 1937 to Charles E. and Grace (nee Wedding) Higgs and was a member of the 1st graduating class of Archbishop John Carroll High School. For over 40 years, he was employed by the Department of State as a Medical Administrator. He retired in 1995. He is survived by his wife Nancy J. Kripner of Crofton, MD; Children, Charles Chuck? Higgs of Bowie, MD, Mark Higgs of Waldorf, MD, Christopher Higgs of Toledo, OH, Michelle Higgs of Suitland, MD and Jennie Higgs of Crofton, MD; Siblings, Frances Fusco of Waldorf, MD, Mary Cockrell of Calvert County, MD and the late Mildred and Richard Higgs; Grandchildren, Lyndsay, LaCosta, Christopher, Martinez, Chad, Rodney and Anna; and 3 great-grandchildren.Family will receive friends at the family owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Community United Methodist Church, Rte. 424 and Reidel Rd., Crofton, MD on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 1:00pm. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
