Akinbola Olubunmi Atanda Davies was born on February 10, 1984, in Lagos, Nigeria to Late Mr. Babalola Olufemi Atanda Davies of the N.T.O Davies of Olowogbowo, Lagos Island and Mrs Elizabeth Oluyinka Adunni Davies (nee Akinrosotu). Akinbola was born at the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria the eldest of his two Siblings.
He started his elementary education at the Federal Home Science Association Nursery and Primary School, Ikoyi, Lagos Nigeria until he moved to the U.S.A. with his parents and his brother Olufemi. He continued his education in the Montgomery County Public School System and graduated from Paint Branch High School in 2002. Akinbola was tremendously intelligent and frequently placed in Advanced Placement (AP) courses throughout his academic journey. He earned numerous recognitions, including President's Education Award from the White House from President Bill Clinton, Principal’s Awards, Honor Roll, and African American Academic Excellence Awards. Following his completion of high school, Akinbola went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD in 2011.
In his youth, Akinbola was well-rounded and active in many pursuits. He participated in the Boy Scouts of America (Pack 44 Silver Spring, MD), played basketball and soccer, performed in piano recitals, and was a member of the school orchestra. He also had a natural artistic talent; his classmates were so impressed with his sketches that they often offered to purchase them. Among all his many interests, soccer was his greatest passion. He played at a high level throughout high school and remained dedicated to following professional soccer leagues worldwide. This love of the game was inspired by his late father, with whom he shared many cherished moments watching matches and discussing the latest soccer events.
Akinbola will always be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit. Whoever he interacted with; he treated with love and respect. If someone needed help, he was always willing to make himself available, never once complaining. Humble and joyful in the company of others, he carried a quiet demeanor that put people at ease. Beneath that calm presence was a wonderful sense of humor, Akinbola was one of the funniest individuals you could meet, often sharing jokes and creating countless moments of laughter and joy with family and friends. He had a special way of showing care for others, often calling or texting to check in and making it a point to remember birthdays, a thoughtful trait he lovingly shares with his mom.
Akinbola held several positions across his career, each reflecting his commitment to service and excellence. He began as a Career Advisor for Montgomery County WorkSource, where he worked directly with the public to address employment barriers, connect individuals with job opportunities, and coordinate with community organizations to provide appropriate referrals. He later served as Office Manager at Christopher Timi & Associates, CPA, where he oversaw daily operations and supported both the office and its clients with diligence. Most recently, Akinbola served as Patient Access Coordinator at Better Lives Inc. until his passing. In this role, he worked closely with insurance providers, hospitals, case managers, and subcontractors, always approaching his responsibilities with patience, humility, and compassion. His steady presence and dedication left a lasting impression on both colleagues and patients. In addition to his professional work, Akinbola also gave back to his community by volunteering for several election cycles as an Election Judge with the Montgomery County Board of Elections.
Akinbola was known for his warm spirit, sharp wit, and genuine kindness. He carried a quiet strength that uplifted those around him, and his love for family and community was at the heart of everything he did. Whether through his friendships, mentorship, or simply his presence, Akinbola touched lives in meaningful ways that will be cherished and remembered always.
Akinbola is survived by his mother, Mrs. Oluyinka Davies, two siblings, Olufemi Davies, Anuoluwapo Davies, sister-in-law Jennifer Davies, nephew Immanuel Olufemi Davies, niece Ifeoluwa Davies, and many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and In-laws
