Allen D. Adams

Allen “Butch” Dudley Adams, age 75, completed his final duty and passed peacefully at his residence in Maryland, with his devoted wife by his side. A man of honor, discipline, and steadfast service, Butch dedicated his life to his country, his community, and his family.

Born and raised in Plainfield, New Jersey, Butch answered the call to serve at a young age, enlisting in the United States Air Force with pride and unwavering commitment. Throughout his tenure, he upheld the highest standards of military conduct, exemplifying the Air Force core values of integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all he did.

Assigned to Andrews Air Force Base, Butch served with distinction, contributing to mission readiness and operational support with professionalism and quiet resolve. His leadership, reliability, and disciplined work ethic earned the respect of peers and superiors alike. Andrews Air Force Base became both his station of duty and the foundation of the life he built in Maryland.

Following his active-duty service, Butch continued his military career with honor in the Maryland Air National Guard, from which he retired after years of dedicated service to state and nation. He later completed a second distinguished career with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (METRO), where he was known for his dependability, strong work ethic, and commitment to public service.

Butch is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Ann Adams, and their three children and spouses: Kevin A. Adams (Dakia Adams), Courtney D. Smith (Byron Smith), and Ingrid C. Matthis (Alvin Matthis). He is also survived by his two cherished granddaughters, Elece M. Smith and Lola J. Adams, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Pamela Adams-McPhaul, Wanda Adams, Kimberly L. Adams, and his niece, Bee. Butch is preceded by his nephew, Jeroyce. His extended family carries forward the memory of his strength, humor, and steady presence

His family and all who served beside him remember him as a man of loyalty, discipline, and quiet courage—qualities forged through military service and reflected in every chapter of his life. His legacy stands tall, upheld by the values he lived and the lives he touched.

Beyond his military and professional accomplishments, Butch was an avid fisherman. He found peace on the water, whether casting a line from a boat or standing quietly on a pier. Time spent fishing with family and friends was among his greatest joys.
