Anda Robinson

August 23, 1959 — October 15, 2022

Anđa Čabraja-Robinson, 63, of Bowie, Maryland was killed in a tragic accident on October 15th, 2022.

Anđa was born on August 23rd, 1959 to Ana and Stipo Miljak in Gornje Kolibe, Bosnia and Herzegovina (former Yugoslavia). She was the oldest of six children and the only daughter. With five younger brothers she grew up helping her mother care for her siblings who she loved dearly.

Anđa married her first husband, Ilija Čabraja, April 5th, 1975 in Novo Selo. After they were married, they began building their life and family together on their farm. Anđa and Ilija had six children, Anto, Nikola, Andrija, Katica, Ruzica, and Josip. They raised their children on their prominent and flourishing farm. Anđa loved working on the farm and tending to her many farm animals. She excelled at motherhood and was a foundation to her family, through and through.

During the Croatian War of Independence, the family moved to Berlin, Germany. Anđa and her children lived there until 2000. In July of 2000, Anđa, Katica, Ruzica, and Josip moved to the Washington, D.C. area where Anđa wanted to provide a better life for her children. Within the first few months of Anđa and her children moving to the United States, her husband Ilija passed away suddenly in Sibinj, Croatia. Alone and in a completely new and foreign country, Anđa got a job at Sibley Memorial Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Unit. One of her passions in life was helping people, she always loved to help people in any way she could. Her passion of caring for people led her to working in a rehabilitation center in Crofton, Maryland where she received many awards for her excellent quality of care prior to her retirement.

In 2002, she met her second husband Michael Robinson. With her marriage to Michael she gained two step-daughters Mariam and Bithynia who she immediately fell in love with and considered her own. As a family, they enjoyed many camping and fishing trips together.

Anđa dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. She was a beautiful human being who always put everyone else's needs before her own. She was a passionate homemaker who prioritized filling her home with warmth and kindness. She brought people together through her homemade Balkan cooking. Anđa was passionate about gardening and had a miraculous green thumb. If she wasn’t in the kitchen cooking for everyone, you could find her outside in her gardens, and feeding the local deer and cats.

She had an infectious smile and laugh that would light up a room. She was the resilient and strong matriarch of her family. Always working to provide a better life for the people she cared for. She touched many people’s hearts and established a large community of people that all became family. She left her mark on the world.

Anđa was predeceased by her parents, Ana and Stipo, her first husband, Ilija, and her second husband, Michael. She is survived by her five brothers, Dragan, Zdenko, Damir, Goran, and Miro and their significant others, spouses, children, and grandchildren; her children, Anto, Nikola, Andrija, Katica, Ruzica, and Josip and their significant others, spouses, and children; her step-daughters Mariam and Bithynia and their significant others, spouses, and children; her grandchildren, Ilija, Andrija, Maya, Josip, Gabriel, Sara, Grace, Lily, Zeljo, Luka, Antonela, Lea, Alisson, Xavier, Charlotte, and Grace; and many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, “adopted” children and dearly cherished friends.

Anđa wished to be buried with the rest of her family in Novo Selo - in lieu of flowers, a family friend has created a GoFundMe page to assist with the transportation and burial costs associated with her unexpected and tragic passing. Any donations towards carrying out her final wishes are greatly appreciated: https://gofund.me/9148eac5.

A memorial service will be held at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, Maryland on Saturday, October 22nd from 1pm - 4pm prior to Anđa being transported to her final resting place.
