Gambrills

Arlene Beverly Peterson, 89, of Gambrills Maryland, peacefully returned to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 while surrounded by her beloved family. Born on October 13, 1936, in the Copper Country of northern Michigan, Arlene lived a long and beautiful life rooted in her faith, family, and communities. She was an incredible wife, mother, niece, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother whose kindness, generosity, and quick wit touched everyone she knew. Arlene is preceded in death by her loving husband Jerry, wonderful daughter Sheryl, sister Joanne, and brother Bill. She is survived by her son, Craig, and daughter Crystal; her sisters Sheryl and Julie; her six grandchildren-Erica, Lindsey, Mallory, Chelsea, Shelby, and Connor-and her four great-grandchildren, Rhys, Wren, Ford, and Avery.

A devout Christian, Arlene lived her faith daily being guided by "belief in the Triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit". She was a gifted homemaker, spending time sewing, decorating, needlework, and baking. Arlene, along with Jerry, were instrumental in starting the Kettering Swim Club, where she served as a board member. She started the swim team (Kettering Kingfish) where she gave generously of her time for a decade serving as league representative, and division chairperson. Arlene and her husband Jerry were passionate hockey fans - especially loyal to her beloved Washington Capitals. Go Caps! She was a dedicated Bridge player since 1964. She played Bridge with some of the most wonderful women for 50 plus years. Arlene worked as a caseworker for the US House of Representatives for 21 years.

After retiring, she and her husband became avid travelers, "holding down the sand" at many beaches such as Myrtle Beach, Hawaii and most of the Caribbean Islands. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her commitment to family, and the meaningful contributions she made to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life to be held in January. Details to follow shortly.
