Arley C. Meier had a wicked sense of humor and a deep love for his parents and family. He was a jack of all trades and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Born April 19th, 1963, to Barney and Shirley Meier, he was the youngest of three children. Arley grew up in Berwyn Heights, MD until the family moved to Bowie, MD in 1968. As a child, he could be found with a cream cheese sandwich in his pocket riding his bike or eating orange creamsicle popsicles with one of his favorite people, Mr. Jennings. As a teenager, he enjoyed listening to Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd. His sister, Kelly, surprised him with tickets and the two snuck out to see Ozzy in concert when Arley was 13. After graduating from Capital Lutheran High school, he worked for his family’s home building business prior to working as a grocery store manager. When not working, he loved listening to music while running, biking, and lifting weights in a workout space he built in his father’s barn.
On May 2nd, 1992, Arley married the love of his life, Gina. He continued his work as a grocery store manager while they grew their lives and family. In 1997, following the birth of their youngest child, the family moved from Glen Dale to the family home that they built next to his parents’ in Bowie. Arley raised rabbits and chickens, maintained a large garden, and hunted to support family and friends. He learned how to hunt from his father and throughout his life he spent countless weekends hunting with his father, siblings, and children.
As his parents aged, he pushed himself to make their lives as easy and happy as possible. When not caring for his aging parents, Arley loved spending time hunting at the family cabin where he and his brother, Lyle, worked hard to update and maintain the cabin for anyone who used it. He was an active member of Berwyn Rod and Gun Club where he worked as a Range Officer and the trap and skeet coordinator. Arley shared his love of hunting and shooting with his children and those around him who expressed interest. He was always happy to go to the range and loved teaching gun safety and how to shoot.
On May 11th, 2026, Arley went home to be with his parents. Arley is survived by his wife, Gina Meier, children, David “Mitch” Buechner (Liora Robinson), Bekah Hutton (Josh Hutton), Stephen Meier, Nathaniel Meier (Kayden Wilson), grandson, Joshua Buechner, and siblings, Lyle Meier (Cathy Meier) and Kelly Rhoads (Chip Rhoads).
