Arthur Richard Craytor, 83, of Catonsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. Born on February 17, 1943, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Elsie Romer and James Craytor.
Arthur proudly served his country for two decades in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1981. Following his distinguished military career, he pursued higher education and graduated from the University of Maryland University College in 1983. He then embarked on a successful civilian career as a Security Officer for the Department of the Navy at the Joint Warfare Analysis Center in Dahlgren, Virginia, where he worked from 1986 until his retirement in 2007. He was active in his church, Prince of Peace Presbyterian in Crofton, Maryland, where he was an Elder. He also served as Moderator of Baltimore Presbytery from 2013 to 2014.
Arthur shared a remarkable life with his beloved wife of 60 years, Carlene Craytor. Together they built a family filled with love and cherished memories. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Cindy Craytor and Cheri Spears (Charles). Arthur was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Linda Jones; and his brother, James Craytor.
In addition to his professional accomplishments and dedication to family, Arthur enjoyed many hobbies. He found joy in golfing and spent many happy hours on the greens. He also loved reading, watching movies, cruising to new destinations, playing card games with friends and family, and visiting Las Vegas. Known for his quick wit and humor, Arthur always had a joke ready to bring a smile to those around him. His willingness to lend a helping hand endeared him to all who knew him.
Arthur’s legacy is one of service, laughter, and unwavering support for those he cared about. May his memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Service will be held on May 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Prince of Peace Presbyterians Church,1567 Crofton Pkwy., Crofton, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church, the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
