Barbara Ann Brown

Barbara Ann (Hayden) Brown, 91, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026.

Barbara was born in Washington, D.C., on November 11, 1934, to William and Frances Hayden. She worked at Bowie Health Center and retired from there after many years of service.

Barbara will be remembered for her warm and welcoming heart. She had a special way of making everyone feel comfortable and loved, treating friends, neighbors, and even those she had just met like family. Her kindness, generosity, and love for others touched the lives of many.

Barbara found great joy in spending time with her family and friends. She loved traveling, gardening, reading, and sewing, and she especially loved the beach. She was also a huge fan of the Washington Redskins and enjoyed cheering on her team. Barbara adored her pets and held a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Buddy. Some of her happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people she loved, creating memories that her family will cherish for years to come.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Mack Brown; her son, Timothy Brown; her grandson, Zachary Brown; her sister, Patricia Pennifield; her brother, William Hayden; and her son-in-law, Michael Castle.

She is survived by her children, John Brown (Clarice), Kathleen Castle, Julie D'Intino, Patrick Brown (Linda), Mary Odle (Carl (Buster)), Laurie Richardson (Wayne), and Thomas Brown; along with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and filled her life with love.

Barbara leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the countless memories she created throughout her life.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 Crain Highway, Bowie, MD 20715.

A funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Beall Funeral Home.

Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road NE, Brentwood, MD 20722. (Please arrive by 10:00 AM)
