Barbara Ruth Layton

Barbara Ruth Layton (Foley), affectionately known as Mimi, passed away peacefully on Aug 28, 2022 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD.

Barbara was one of nine children born to Luella (Aldridge) and Alexander Foley, July 3, 1931, in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. Barbarba and her husband, Gilbert, and children, Ricky and Sandra, called New Jersey home until 1973 when they all moved to Maryland. Barbara was a homemaker and stay at home mom for most of her life. She became a stay at home Mimi to her two granddaughters, Jennifer and Stacy, in the late 70’s.  After getting her driver’s license at 58, she proudly worked at Sears for many years. Barbara enjoyed cooking and being with family as much as possible. She also preferred her winters to be in Leesburg, Florida with her friends and sister Lois. Most recently Barbara loved lollipops, Golden Oreos and spending time with her two great grandsons Cooper and Easton. 

Barbara is lovingly survived by her son Ricky Layton and wife Linda Layton, granddaughter Jennifer Martenot and partner Ryan Hiller, granddaughter Stacy Lowe (Martenot) and husband Bradley Lowe and great grandsons Cooper and Easton Lowe.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Layton, her daughter Sandra Martenot (Layton), her parents Alexander and Luella, siblings Dolores, Harold, Stanley and Mildred and many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and in-laws.

Barbara will be dearly missed and remembered always.
