Barbara Schnur, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 27th, 2026. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother of three, grandmother of five, and friend to many. Barbara is predeceased by her parents, William and Katherine, and her eldest son, Alan. She will be missed by her younger brother, Dick; her surviving children, Richard and Susan; her grandchildren, K., AJ, Evy, Alex and Annalise; and her two great grandchildren, Florence and Cyrus.

Barbara grew up in a loving family in the Philadelphia area. She graduated from Abington Friends School, received a Bachelors and Masters in English from Duke University, and completed her MSLS at Drexel University. She was married twice, first to Marcus Roy (the father of her children), then later to the love of her life, Joseph Schnur. She lived several happy years with Joseph in Brookhaven, PA until his passing in 1993 when she relocated to Swarthmore. In 2023 she moved to Maryland to be closer to family in her final years.

Barbara was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was an avid reader, a frequent patron of local theatre, and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was also a passionate traveler, who brought her grandchildren along on adventures, both local, and abroad.

Barbara often remarked that she had lived a blessed life. "I have had sorrows, everyone does," she'd say, "but I have no regrets.”
