Betty Jane Dyer, 100 years old, of Bowie, Maryland, passed from this life on June 26, 2024. She was the loving wife of George E. Dyer for 56 years who predeceased her in 1999.
She was born on August 5, 1923, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Morris Nielsen and Betty Hansen who immigrated from Denmark.
Betty graduated from Omaha South High School in 1941. She left home at 19 for a Federal job in Washington D.C. where she met the love of her life and married. After raising six children, she worked for the U.S. Census Bureau for 30 years.
The most important thing in her life was her family. When her children were young, she was their number one fan and supporter. Betty never missed any event that her children participated in, and she attended as many of her grandchildren's events as possible. She loved her faith and was a devoted Catholic, attending Sacred Heart Church for over 35 years.
She is survived by her daughters: Karen Clink, Cathy Dyer, Laurie Kirsch, Beth Catterton, Paula Bryant and son, Steven Dyer. Her progeny include eight grandchildren: Jeremy, Shawn, Kevin, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Jessica, Dana, and Hannah; and ten great-grandchildren: Mina, Michael, Gray, Landon, Dylan, Ryan, Davey, Lilly, Dexter and Tyson.
