Blanca Lydia Ocasio Santiago known as our "Mamita", born November 22, 1937 in Corozal, Puerto Rico, from Hyattsville, MD passed away in the early morning hours on June 18, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Jose Antonio Ocasio and her four children, Sandra (Denis) Moreno-Urbina, Mildred (Hector) Ocasio-Perez, Wilberto (Elizabeth) Ocasio and Vivian (John) Ocasio Richards. She is also survived by her six grandchildren; Brandon, Nicholas, Jordyn, Daniel, Norrelle and Jeffrey. She was beloved by many, including her sister, nieces, nephews and many friends, both here and in Puerto Rico. Her contagious smile, quick wit and giving spirit are only a few of the gifts she leaves behind in our hearts.
Mamita loved the December holiday season and would volunteer at the Latin American Youth Center wrapping gifts for underserved youth. In lieu of flowers, if you would like, you may make a donation in her memory to the Latin American Youth Center Holiday Gift Fund. www.layc-dc.org
A celebration of Life is planned on Saturday, June 25, 2022
