For fifty years, six months and twelve days, Bobbie Lynn Hoye's smile brightened every room she entered with family, friends and associates both near and far. Today, we are holding fast to her unwavering joy, knowing that we have the divine privilege of being a part of the life of one of GOD's special children.
Bobbie was born on November 10, 1975, in Erie, PA to Edward James, Jr. and Mari Anne Clark (Tyrone). She leaves behind cherished memories with her sister, Lisa, brother, Erik, husband of 24 years, Rodger Hoye, their two beautiful children, Noah and Riley, several nieces, nephews and bonus family members.
Bobbie attended St. John the Baptist from Pre K to 8th grade and Villa Maria Academy for her 9th to 12th grade education and excelled. She then went on to attend college at the University of Pittsburgh where she obtained two degrees. Her Bachelor of Arts in 1997 and her Jurist Doctor 2000. As an attorney, she was certified to practice in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Georgia. She worked in several settings: government, private practice and at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (aka UMBC).But these are just the statistics, in her heart she loved family, friends, football, fashion and most of all, fun!
Bobbie created two scholarship funds - The James Family Scholarship and The Giving Tree. She gave birth to this idea to honor her parents and grandmother's deep conviction on the importance of education. These scholarships annually support graduating seniors from Erie, PA pursuing higher education. To Bobbie, family is connected to community.
As a loyal friend she made everyone around her feel loved and included. Until we got to football, then maybe you were outside, at least until the game was over. She loved all kinds of sports: basketball, hockey, boxing, track and field. She pushed herself athletically by running a marathon before she turned 30. The love for competition also fueled her fun. Playing board games, racing in the back yard, playing horse, water gun fights or just a good ol' prank. She loved orchestrating fun.
But nobody pushed the limits like Bobbie, when it came to fashion. No matter the oc-casion, event, gathering or theme Bobbie Lynn was always, fly! Her natural gift for style, coordination, color and beauty was unmatched, even until Saturday May 30th, when she requested her silver hoop earrings be found and put in her ears.
For the past 7 days and beyond, we will honor the life of Bobbie Lynn Hoye. We rejoice in the gladness that she brought to us all. We pray that the faith and strength she demonstrated will carry us through. She hopes this test might become a testimony to the love we share and help each of us understand the divine providence of GOD.
