Catherleen White was born on July 15, 1926, in King William County, VA to the late Lucious and Catherine Lomax White. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
Catherleen obtained her education at Beaulahville School in King William County, VA. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Providence Baptist Church. After relocating to Washington, DC, Catherleen began worshipping at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church as a Watch Care Member. She joined the Roses and Thorns Volunteer Club.
She began a career in domestic service that spanned more than 60 years, most of which she spent with the Brown family. Through her unwavering dedication and caring spirit, she earned the love and respect of the family. They regarded her much more than an employee, but as a cherished and treasured member of their extended family.
Catherleen was the sixth oldest of 11 children; six girls and five boys. Having been preceded in death by her parents and ten siblings; Caroline Coleman (Samuel), Maria Cottom (Charles), Minnie Holland (Jimmie), Ethel Anderson (Audrey), Mary Anderson (Leslie), William (Lillian), Lucious Jr (Blanche), Melvin, Howard, and Linwood White. Catherleen became the cherished Matriarch of the family, providing wisdom, guidance, strength, and love to generations of family members
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: three devoted nieces, Phyllis Vessels, who regarded Catherleen as a second mother, Rose Stokes, and Pauline Thornton; one devoted nephew, Howard White (Donna); three devoted great-nieces, Annette Anderson, Velicia Vessels Crowder (Christopher), and Sherita Taylor (George); five devoted great-nephews, James (Shyrel), John, Charles (Ellen), Robert, and Earl (Johnita) Anderson. She is also survived by a host of other beloved nieces and nephews; great and great-great nieces; great and great-great nephews; cousins; other relatives; and friends.
