Claire M. Casey, born July 13, 1928 passed away Friday, November 29, 2024 at the age of 96. She is predeceased by her husband of sixty-seven years, Walter H. Casey, and her son George W. Casey. Claire is survived by her three remaining children: Linda Downey and Dave, Sandra White, and Richard Casey; and her daughter-in-law Ruth Casey; five grandchildren: Robin White, Timothy White (Malissa), Elizabeth Berman (Cory), Denise Casey, and Kevin Casey; and six great grandchildren; Chantel Moore (Kevin), Devin Cagle (Caitlyn), Tyler White, Natalie White, Simone Berman and Theo Berman; and two great great grandchildren: Lanna Moore and McKenna Moore.
Claire was a beautician when her children were young and in later years worked for Scott’s Paper Products Company in Washington, DC and Mitchell Business Machines in Cheverly. She retired from Safeway’s corporate office in Landover. Claire took classes at Prince George’s Community College to enhance her PC skills and soon became the spokes person for the other students when their professor misquoted an answer on their test. Claire was a dedicated wife and mother who dearly loved her family and always made the simplest events special; creating many fond memories for family and friends. She was very creative and had a good eye for decorating. Claire made a wedding dress for a Barbie doll for Christmas; a ginger bread train; a gazebo made from sugar for a brides-maid shower; a tall Christmas nut-cracker which she donated to the Cheverly Hospital children’s ward; and she always had the most beautiful Christmas trees. Claire loved dressing for Halloween and even won a Safeway contest one year. In her later years she enjoyed playing bingo and doing crafts.
