Cynthia Dorsainvil, affectionately known as “Cha Cha,” was a devoted mother, beloved family member, and accomplished attorney and tax professional whose life was marked by integrity, compassion, strength, and excellence. Cynthia was born on September 12, 1975, in Long Island, NewYork, to Pierre and Josephine Mariella Dorsainvil.

She was raised in a loving and close-knit Haitian family that instilled in her strong values, a deep sense of responsibility, and an enduring commitment to care for others. Her life was grounded in faith and spirituality, which quietly guided her decisions, sustained her through challenges, and gave her strength in moments of uncertainty. She entered the world alongside her twin sister, Dolores, and was lovingly welcomed by her siblings Bobbie, Edwige, and Arsene. From an early age, Cynthia was known for her calm demeanor, thoughtfulness, and quiet confidence, qualities that would remain defining characteristics throughout her life. Even as a child, her curiosity, discipline, and determination hinted at the remarkable path she would follow. A woman of remarkable intellect and determination, Cynthia pursued academic excellence throughout her life. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Harvard University, where she distinguished herself through disciplined study and thoughtful engagement. She went onto receive her Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, honing the analytical rigor and principled judgment that would define her legal career. Later, she completed a Master of Science in Taxation at the Kogod School ofBusiness at American University, demonstrating her commitment to mastery in a highly complex and specialized field.

Cynthia built a distinguished legal career marked by integrity, intellect, and dedication. In 2018, she joined KPMG US, where she served as a Senior Associate in State and Local Tax. She was widely respected for her sharp legal mind, meticulous attention to detail, and unwavering professionalism. Prior to KPMG, Cynthia served as Special Assistant Attorney General in the Tax & Finance Section of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, contributing meaningfully to public service. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Regulatory Compliance Attorney at Skadden, Arps,Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York and as an Associate Attorney at both Seyfarth Shaw, and Hogan Lovells in their Manhattan offices. She was an active member of the American Bar Association and Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW DC),reflecting her dedication to leadership, service, and excellence within her profession.

Cynthia embraced life fully and remained deeply committed to staying active and joyful. She was an avid runner who completed several marathons, finding both challenge and renewal through physical movement. Music and connection were central to her life, bringing her joy and grounding her spirit. Afro beats held a special place in her heart. Its vibrant rhythms brought her happiness and reflected the way she lived fully, joyfully, and with an infectious energy. In addition to enjoying Afro beats, one of her greatest passions was salsa dancing, where her energy, rhythm, and radiant presence were unmistakable. She performed with a salsa group in Manhattan where her spirit shone brightly. On the dance floor, Cynthia expressed the joy, confidence, and vitality that so many admired in her. She was known among family and friends for her wit, warmth, and ability to make others feel genuinely seen and valued.

Above all else, Cynthia was a devoted and beloved mother to her son, Jonah “Bear” (Akinwande Jonah Dorsainvil Odulate), who was the greatest joy of her life. He was the center of her world, the recipient of her fiercest love, and the focus of her deepest hopes. Cynthia poured herself into motherhood with intention, tenderness, and unwavering devotion. Through Jonah, Cynthia’s light, brilliance, and boundless love continue in the world. Her values, strength, and compassion live on through him, forming the heart of her enduring legacy. Cynthia was also a devoted aunt to her niece Chippy, whom she adored deeply, and a loving presence in the lives of her many nieces and nephews.

Cynthia was a cherished sister and twin, a beloved aunt, a loving relative, and a loyal, irreplaceable friend. She shared an unbreakable bond with her twin sister, Dolores, rooted in lifelong friendship, deep understanding, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her son, Jonah; her siblings: Pierre Arsene (Sharon), Edwige (Serge), Bobbie (Freddie),Pierre Fils (Erzulia), and her beloved twin sister, Dolores; and her nieces Sandra (Durand), Marie-Pierre, Marjorie, Jovan, Fabiola, Megan, Farrah, Maye, and Chippy, and nephews Edens, Clarel, Patrick (Ashley), Richard (Stephanie), Carl Henri(Esther), and Dane; and several great-nieces and nephews. She is also remembered fondly by cousins, extended family members, colleagues, and dear friends whose lives she touched in lasting ways.

Cynthia lived a life defined by strength, brilliance, and compassion. She was courageous without being hardened, honest without despair, and hopeful even in the most difficult moments. During her battle with cancer, she faced each stage with remarkable grace, resilience, and dignity. She never allowed her illness to define her or diminish her spirit. Even while enduring the physical and emotional demands of treatment, Cynthia remained deeply attentive to the needs of others. She continued to offer encouragement, empathy, and love, placing the well-being of her family and friends above her own discomfort. Her grace under pressure left a profound impression on all who walked alongside her during this journey.

Cynthia—whose life was defined by integrity, compassion, and excellence—gained her wings on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the age of 50.Cynthia’s warmth, intelligence, generosity, wit, and laughter left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever live in our hearts.

She will be profoundly missed, lovingly remembered, and always cherished.
