Bowie

David Allen Stanek Sr. was born in Rockford, Illinois on June 25, 1937, the oldest of three siblings and departed this earth to live eternally with his Lord and Savior on January 22, 2024. David was 86 years old.

As a young man, David excelled at sports and held records in pole vaulting and diving at Middletown High School in Connecticut. David also played the saxophone and loved the blues and southern gospel music.  In 1957, David married his high school sweetheart Margee and joined the Air Force and was stationed in Bangor, Maine.

In 1968, David moved his wife and family to Hartville, Ohio where he spent the next thirty years working for the Fred W. Albrecht Grocery Company in Akron starting in the key punch room and eventually being promoted to the positions of Treasurer and Vice President of Information Technology. David was an avid handball player and golfer. David was also a man of faith and was an active member of the Hartville Church of the Brethren until David and Margee moved to North Canton in 2001 and became members of the First Christian Church.

In 2020, David relocated to Bowie, Maryland. He especially enjoyed the mild winters and blue skies in Maryland and attending Grace Baptist Church in Bowie. David always enjoyed watching a good western and reruns of Star Trek. David will be remembered for his gentle demeanor and his loving kindness.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Evelyn Stanek, sister Sharon Schutz, and brother Paul E. Stanek Jr. He is survived by his wife Margee whom he was blessed to be married to for 66 years, his daughter Sharon Leyden (Robert) and his son David A. Stanek Jr. (Annette), his grandson Eric Leyden (Sarah), his granddaughter Brittany David (Justin) and his great granddaughter Kinsley Marie David and great grandson Landon Allen David.

A celebration of life will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
