Born on March 10, 1937, in Rochester, New York, Dianna was the daughter of Virgina Rose and Troy Martin Watkins. She grew up in Irondequoit, Rochester, New York, and later made Edgewater, Maryland, her home for many years.
Dianna was known for her kindness, humor, feisty spirit, snazzy sense of style, and, most of all, her deep dedication to family. She loved traveling, especially cruising to destinations around the world. Each year, she looked forward to summer vacations at the Nancy Clair in Ocean City, Maryland, as well as annual trips back to Upstate New York to visit childhood friends and family and attend her DES (Durand Eastman Elementary School) reunion.
Dianna was an avid reader who enjoyed lounging in the pool, solving word search puzzles, playing her favorite game, Scrabble, spending quiet time coloring, and indulging in her love of chocolate. She also found joy in yard sales, collecting baskets and hat boxes, shopping for clothes, and light gardening—meaning watering the spring and summer flowers her daughter planted on the porch for her to enjoy.
Above all, Dianna cherished time spent with family and friends. She could often be found sitting on the porch, enjoying a cigarette and conversation with anyone who stopped by. However, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her beloved great-grandchildren.
Dianna is survived by her daughters, Michelle Rhodes of Edgewater, Maryland, and Merritt Thomas and her husband, Ben, of Churchton, Maryland; her sons, Troy Stotsky of Annapolis, Maryland, and Garth Stotsky and his wife, Maggie, of Bowie, Maryland; her grandchildren, Nicole Murray and her husband, Mike, of Crofton, Maryland, Faith Stotsky of Annapolis, Maryland, Nathan Rhodes of Edgewater, Maryland, and Todd Stotsky of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Kacie, Averie, Hailie, Ethan, and Nicholas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Virgina (Jean) Watkins; her sister, MaryAnne Watkins; her son, Kraig Adam Stotsky; her grandson, Adrian Troy Stotsky; and her childhood friend from elementary school, Joyce Hagan.
A celebration of life will be held on May 2nd at her daughter’s home, where she resided for the last 25 years. Details will be provided via social media.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Gilchrist Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
