With utmost sadness, the family of UKANDU announce the passing of our beloved, Dorathy Ada Ukandu, who went to be with our Heavenly Father on July 9th, 2023 at age 63.

Dorathy A. Ukandu was born on December 5th, 1959, in Lagos, she was the first child/daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Lovinah Onuanyim. After graduating from High school, she met her husband, John O. Ukandu(late). Together, they had 5 children: Ifeoma, John(jnr), Francis, Jessica, and Charles.

She was a shining light in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering love touched the hearts of countless individuals.

Throughout her life, Dorathy was a dedicated and caring individual, always putting the needs of others before her own. She exemplified what it meant to be a selfless and compassionate person. Her unwavering support and encouragement uplifted family, friends, and even strangers who came under her care.

Dorathy A. Ukandu was passionate about life and found joy in the simplest things. She had infectious laughter and a witty sense of humor that brightened the room she entered. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, connecting with her community, and exploring new places whenever possible.

But above all of her accomplishments, Dorathy A. Ukandu's greatest joy and fulfillment came from being a loving Grandmother and mother, gentle daughter, supportive sibling, and cherished friend. Her nurturing nature and unconditional love were unwavering, providing solace and strength to her family in times of joy and sorrow. Her legacy of love will continue to bless future generations.

Dorathy A. Ukandu is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, extended family and ECWA Church family. She will be sorely missed but forever remembered for her warmth, faith, kindness, and compassion, leaving an indelible impact on all who knew her.

A funeral service in memory of Dorathy Ukandu will be held on Friday, August 12, 2023 at 10:00 am at Beall Funeral Home 6512 Crain Hwy, Bowie, MD 20715. The family kindly requests that those who desire, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the children for funeral costs in honor of Dorathy A. Ukandu.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we also take solace in knowing that Dorathy Ukandu is at peace and in the company of loved ones who passed before her. May she rest in eternal peace.
