Earl Rudolph Moore was born on January 9, 1939, in Washington, D.C. to the late James Henry and Margaret Moore, the third of their three children. He grew up in D.C. first in LeDroit Park and then on to Owen Place where he spent most of his childhood. His childhood was spent enjoying time with his siblings Vauline and James “Jimmy” and his double first cousin Wilsonia Moore Little. Earl was educated at D.C. public schools before enlisting in the Army on July 23, 1962. While in the Army Earl received a Good Conduct Medal Marksman Badge (Rifle) and did a tour in Korea. On February 3, 1964, Earl married the love of his life, Shirley whom he shared 55 years with. Earl and Shirley resided in Hyattsville, Maryland where they raised their son Talfred. Earl was a family man and loved his family. Growing up he had fond memories of his Uncle Jonas and Aunt Susie. Every Christmas Earl and Shirley rotated hosting Christmas dinner with his siblings Vauline and Jimmy. In the summertime, Earl spent the 4th of July at his cousin Wilsonia’s annual cookout. Earl was a leader in his family, serving as President of the Outterbridge-Gilliams Family Reunion Executive Committee in 1981 and 1982. When Earl wasn’t enjoying time with his family he was working with his hands. He loved working with his hands and repairing things. Earl and Shirley also spent extensive time traveling together. Professionally, Earl spent time as a truck driver for Kann’s department store and then worked for the Bureau of Engraving & Printing for 30 years. Throughout his life he had many accomplishments and social affiliations including membership as a Mason and a Shriner. Earl is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Moore and his siblings Vauline Robinson and James “Jimmy” Moore. Earl leaves behind a son, Talfred, granddaughters Courtney and Keyanna, and great-grandchildren Laylani and Jaden. He also leaves a host of many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins including Bernice Bundy, Harvey Darryl Robinson, Patrice Little Murray and many more.
