CROFTON, MD - Earle B. Amey III passed away at age 82 on Friday, March 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on January 3, 1942, in Easton, PA, to Earle (Jr.) and Mary (Dolly) Amey. Earle earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland and dedicated his career to various roles within the Federal Government, retiring as the Federal Government’s Gold Specialist.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Earle was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances, and cherished daughters, Sharon Riggs, Angela Martin, and Jessica Amey. He leaves behind seven adored grandchildren: Bree Riggs; Layla, Lorelei, and Lincoln Martin; and Micah, Mackale, and Ashton Puzniak.
Active in the community, Earle was a member of the Knights of Columbus, taught religious education, and, in his later years, shared his knowledge as a professor at the University of Maryland, Anne Arundel Community College, and Bowie State University. He found joy in golfing and playing cards with friends in his leisure time.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a viewing at Beall’s Funeral Home in Bowie, MD, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 6 – 8 pm. A mass will be held in celebration of Earle’s life at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Crofton, MD, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 10 – 11 am, followed by interment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
