Ebony K. Vance-Marble

Ebony Kimberly Vance-Marble, born April 23, 1976, entered the world boldly—arriving right on the Capital Beltway—and lived her life with that same vibrant spirit. Wrapped in her royal color of purple, she embodied courage, dignity, and deep love from the very beginning.

Raised throughout Prince George’s County, Ebony cherished her childhood with her parents, Clark and Elaine, and her beloved brothers, who shaped her confident, fun-loving personality. She graduated in 1996 from the Private Industry Council and later continued her studies at Tesst College of Technology.

Ebony’s greatest joy was her children—Juanyeigh, Emani, and Aniya—her heart and proudest accomplishment. Their devotion to her in recent years reflected the love she poured into them. Through her son’s father, Ebony met Sharon “Paulette” Gatling, who encouraged her to return to school and strengthened her spiritual journey. Ebony began studying the Bible, dedicated herself to Jehovah, and was baptized on January 16, 1998, a milestone she treasured deeply. She was honored to speak twice at District Conventions, moved to tears both times by joy and gratitude.

Professionally, Ebony served as an E‑Discovery Project Supervisor at Leidos for 23 years, respected for her leadership and dedication. Creative at heart, she co‑founded Social Butterflies, crafted beautiful scrapbooks, decorated with impeccable style, and hosted unforgettable gatherings—always with her signature touch of purple. A true fashionista and selfie queen, Ebony brought joy, laughter, and beauty wherever she went.

She loved simple moments with her children, photography, music, movies, and uplifting everyone around her. Long before her own diagnosis, she championed cancer patients with compassion and encouragement. During her fight, she was surrounded by a loving village whose support meant everything to her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving parents, Clark Allen Vance, Sr. and Sandra Elaine Smith; her devoted children, Juanyeigh Vance, Emani Chaney, and Aniya Chaney; her bonus daughters, Zenobia Robinson, Alexis Chaney, Jasmin Chaney, and Asia Chaney; her brothers, Louis Smith (Sheila), Clark Allen Vance, Jr. “Junebug”, Kenneth “Kenny” Vance, and Troy Powell; her husband, Joseph A. Marble; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ebony lived joyfully, loved deeply, and fought courageously. Her purple light—her Purple Heart—will forever shine in every life she touched.
