Ed, of Dameron, Maryland, formerly from Lansing, New York, passed away on October 30, 2023 after a 3.5 year long battle with metastatic prostate cancer.
Ed was a graduate of Lansing High School class of 1980. He enlisted in the US Navy in July of 1980 and embarked on a 20-year career, retiring from service in 2000. His duty stations included, Patrol Squadron 44 in Brunswick Maine, Sigonella Sicily, NAWC AD Patuxent River, Maryland, NAF Diego Garcia, and USS Enterprise CVN65. Throughout his career, he received numerous decorations, commendations, and awards.
He met his beautiful wife Tracey Leigh (Baker) in Brunswick, Maine and were married on October 3, 1981. She continued to be the confidant and rock that he leaned on. Together they raised three sons, Edward Jr (Mandy) of Coco, Florida, Matthew (Amy) of Leesburg, Virginia, and Brandon (Kerri) of King George, Virginia.
Ed is survived by his wife, sons, and four amazing grand-children, Arya (11), Zachary (9), Eleanor (3), and his birthday girl Jocelyn Mae (1).
Also surviving are Ed's mother Hazel Mae Avery; sisters Lori Drummond (Dean), Linda Randall (Randy), and Vicki Avery; his cousin and best friend Kevin (Nancy); Nieces Katrina (Manny), Randi Lyn, Carlee, Tiffany; nephews TJ (Danielle), Aaron (Danielle), Josh; and several great nieces and nephews. Mother-in-law Ginger Baker; and sisters in law Tami, and Melody, and brother-in law Tom. Maternal uncles Evan Jr and Thomas Phillips and his funnier than hell Aunt Beverly, and Cindy, his paternal aunts Pat, Carol.
Ed's hobbies included NASCAR, hunting and fishing but his greatest passions were travelling with his wife in their RV, and his grandchildren. He also loved rooting for his beloved METS.
