Edward Ward Bice, 90, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, surrounded by his children.
Born on March 7, 1936, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Ed was the son of Edmund E. Bice and Jesse (Ward) Bice. In 1966, he married Dorothy (Miller) Bice. They shared 50 loving years of marriage until her passing in 2016.
Ed dedicated his professional life to public service. During his long career with the federal government, he lived and worked in several states and served overseas in Japan and Bermuda. After retiring, he continued his commitment to service through his involvement with the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), where he advocated on behalf of federal employees before elected officials. A faithful member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bowie for many years, Ed found great joy singing with the church choir.
Ed is survived by his children, Douglas Bice and his wife, Marcie; Donald Bice and his wife, Erin; and Alison Holcombe and her husband, James. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren and many cherished members of his extended family.
Ed will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to public service, his deep love for his family, and the quiet integrity that guided his life. In his later years, he found particular joy in bringing happiness to others through a thoughtful word or gesture. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Ed’s memory by performing an act of kindness in his name.
