Eldrick “Bobby” Ojeño Alexander passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, at the age of 92, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bobby lived a long and full life defined by his deep faith, love for family, and commitment to community. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, to Norma George, Bobby was raised with love and guidance by both his mother and his adopted father, Cyril Pollard. As an only child, he began working at a young age as a maintenance assistant before pursuing his passion for electronics and telecommunications. He attended SanJuan High School and, after emigrating to the United States, continued his education at Bronx Community College in New York and Capital Technical Institute in Maryland, earning an Associate’s Degree in Electronics and Technology.
He spent his professional life working as an Electronics and Electrical Engineer in the fields of AV/TV engineering, telecommunications, and broadcasting. His career spanned over 35 years and included impactful roles at major institutions. He worked at Howard University for six years, served as a field engineer in Saudi Arabia with SAIC doing satellite uplink work for four years, and ultimately retired from Georgetown University after a long and respected tenure. His work bridged academic, governmental, and international sectors—a testament to his versatility, reliability, and expertise.
Bobby received several honors throughout his career, including a Letter of Commendation from the Director of Operations and Engineering at Howard University for his role in supporting WHMM-TV transmitter operations. He was also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Dean of Howard University for his dedicated contributions to the 1981 Summer Enrichment Program for Talented and Gifted Youths—a reflection of his enduring commitment to education and his deep belief in nurturing the next generation. He remained an engaged member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and continued learning throughout his life.
To his family and friends, Bobby was known for his quiet wisdom, generous spirit, love of sports, and unwavering devotion. He was a faithful and active member of his parish, St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed participating in senior citizens’ classes, where he remained socially and mentally engaged well into his later years.
Above all, Bobby was a devoted husband and family man. He faithfully supported his beloved wife Beulah, attending all of her tennis matches and standing by her side throughout their life together. He deeply loved his children and grandchildren — attending every school recital, soccer game, graduation, and special event with joy and pride. He never hesitated to offer a ride, words of encouragement, or a listening ear. He emphasized the importance of education and personal discipline, often speaking about the value of commitment, especially when it came to school and sports. He took a genuine interest in every aspect of his loved ones’ lives and made each of them feel seen, supported, and unconditionally loved.
In quieter moments, Bobby enjoyed watching Westerns — a favorite pastime that reflected both his appreciation for classic storytelling and his steady, grounded presence.
He was preceded in death by his darling wife, Beulah Mary Alexander, and his beloved daughter, Virginia “Patsy” Johnson. He is survived by his devoted children: Joanne Alexander, KathyAnn Walcott, and Eldrick Alexander, Jr. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Joel Johnson and Jisele Samuels; Kayla Alexander; Nia, Amira, Mani, Isaiah, Ammar, and Jamal Walcott; Eldrick Alexander III; and Chloe and Clara Alexander. He was also blessed with adored great-grandchildren: Gabby Johnson, Rachel Samuels, Xavier Alexander, and Sevyn Alexander, who brought him great joy in his later years. Bobby was deeply loved by a wide circle of extended family and friends, many of whom affectionately knew him as “Uncle Bobby.”
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 14908 Main St., Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.
