Elizabeth A. Dinsmore

Our dear mother Elizabeth (Petie) Dinsmore sadly passed away November 24^th at the age of 82. Born March 8th, 1941, in Washington DC to Harry and Regina Thompson.  Petie was one of 3 children. Petie grew up in Southwest DC together with her sister Jean and brother Bubby. Petie attended St. Dominic’s High school and graduated in 1959. Petie met the love of her life, Robert (Dinny) Dinsmore, at the age of 13. Dinny and Petie Dinsmore married on November 5th, 1960, at St. Dominic's in Southwest Wash, DC. Dinny and Petie were married for 53 loving years, until Dinny’s death in 2013. Their early married years were spent in Bladensburg, they soon settled in Lanham/New Carrollton Maryland where they raised their 5 boys. Most of Petie’s work history was being a homemaker for her husband and boys.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was always there when we needed her.  Petie was a great storyteller and loved to talk with her many friends and family. Petie worked at DeMatha Catholic High School in the early 80’s as a member of the kitchen staff in the school’s cafeteria.  Petie would end her work career working as an events planner at the La Fontaine Bleue. Petie is survived by her boys and their families, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
