Elizabeth Grace Galvin “Betty”

Elizabeth Grace Galvin, 90, on April 28, 2022, went to her eternal rest after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born July 3, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph Tiernan and Janet (Stevenson) Tiernan, married November 28, 1953, to Eugene Joseph Galvin Sr. Devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and adoring grandmother. Attended St. Michaels School and Bay Ridge High School. Moved from Brooklyn to New Jersey, Maryland, then Virginia. Devout Catholic: Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Altar Society Leader, CCD teacher, choir member and volunteer. Retired to Shenandoah Valley with her husband, creating family memories, sharing her enduring faith, love of homemaking, joyful celebration of family and holidays, music, sewing, cross-stitching, and the arts- especially dance. Her sense of humor, quick wit, joy, limitless kindness, patience, perseverance, and unconditional love will forever live in our hearts. 

Preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, brothers Joseph and Gerard and sisters, Margaret and Agnes. She is survived by her sister-in-law Grace (Galvin) Byrne; sons Eugene Jr., Jeffrey and Kenneth Galvin; daughters, Theresa (Galvin) Kautz and Janet (Galvin) Olcott; sons in law, Robert Kautz and John Olcott; daughters in law, Mary Lou and Christine Galvin; grandchildren, Joshua, Cecilia, Clare, Mary, Kathryn, Andi, John, Jennifer and Jessica. 

Visitation at Beall Funeral Home, Crain Highway in Bowie, Maryland, May 3rd 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Chapel, Bowie, Maryland May 4th at 10:00. Private interment at a later date. Special thanks to Regency Park and Shenandoah Valley caregivers – especially son, Jeff. Donations may be made to Parkinson.org.
