Riverdale

Elton Wiser Junior, 89, of Riverdale, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Washington DC on September 5, 1934, to the late Elton Wiser Senior and Loretta Wiser, Elton lived a life full of love, dedication, and hard work.

He was the beloved husband of Shirley Yvonne Wiser for 49 wonderful years. Together, they raised five children who were the pride and joy of his life: Jerry, Vicki (husband Ed), Mick (wife Rebecca), Candi (husband Allen), and Kym (wife Nicole). Grandchildren Shelby, Samantha (Brian), Eddie (Marcella), Rachel, Taylor, Michael, Erin, Andrew and Reece. Elton's family extended to numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren, who will miss his tender love and wisdom deeply.

Elton was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Loretta Wiser, his loving wife Shirley, his sister, Joan Little, and his brother, Roddy Wiser. His legacy, however, will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A man of many talents and interests, Elton was known for his love of bowling, a sport he enjoyed well into his later years. He was an avid collector, particularly of cars, and he took great pride in maintaining and repairing his home. His frugality and resourcefulness were well-known traits that he passed on to his children.

Elton was a man of integrity and commitment, often described as a "man of his word." His wisdom and thoughtful nature made him a cherished confidant and advisor to many. He had a keen interest in history and enjoyed the intellectual challenges of shows like "Perry Mason."

A family man through and through, Elton cherished his time spent at family gatherings and backyard get-togethers. He was always present, always willing to lend a hand or share a story. His love for baseball and softball, anything Washington sports related, as well as his prowess at fixing cars, were just a few of the many ways he connected with others.

Despite life's challenges, including surviving cancer, Elton's spirit remained strong and resilient. He never missed an opportunity to vote, underscoring his commitment to civic duty. His loyalty, passion, and unwavering support for his family and community will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Elton's life was a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and love. His memory will be a guiding light for his family and friends, who will carry his spirit with them always.

A celebration of Elton's life will be held on July 1st at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association, causes close to Elton's heart.
