Ernesto Thomas Marez

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ernesto Thomas Marez, 63, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

Ernesto was born on December 29, 1962, in Lubbock, Texas, to Matilda Garcia and the late Steven O. Marez. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Esperanza (Luna) and Emilio Ramirez Garcia, who helped raise him, and his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Aurelia (Romero) Marez.

Ernesto is survived by his beloved lifetime partner, Joanie Martin, with whom he shared a cherished life. He is also survived by his mother, Matilda, and his five siblings: Irene Norman (Michael), Nadine Clark (the late Allen Clark), Andrew Marez (Carol Gerber), Yvonne Cantor (Jay), and Richard Dickerson (Wing).

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10th from 4pm to 7pm at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. 

He will be dearly missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his nieces and nephews: Amber Marez; Ryan Clark (Claudia), Chris Clark (Cheryl and children: Elise, William, & Aaron); Joel, Eric, & Anna-Lisa Norman; Chase Cantor (and family Avery), Brooke, Paige, Madison, & Alayna Cantor; and Mia & Bella Dickerson.

Ernesto leaves behind many close friends and coworkers who will remember him fondly.
