Ferdinand Altiere

November 3, 1946 — April 16, 2022

Ferdinand (Fred) Altiere of Bowie, Maryland formerly of North Adams, Massachusetts passed away on April 16, 2022.  Fred’s untimely passing was a loss to his family and friends that will last forever.

Fred was born in New York but grew up in North Adams where he attended public school and graduated from Drury High School.  Upon graduation, Fred enlisted in the Army where he served his country for three years.  After being honorably discharged from the Army, Fred enrolled in Berkshire Community College, Pittsfield, Massachusetts and eventually made the decision to attend the University of Maryland where he earned his teaching degree.

After deciding to remain in the Bowie area, Fred took a teaching position which has spanned over four decades and found him still teaching at the time of his death.  Fred will be remembered fondly by the many teachers he has known over the years, the students he has taught and the many, many friends he made while living in Bowie, not to mention his family who will miss him dearly.  Fred was full of life, laughter and mischief, loved his sons, Freddie and Corey unconditionally and was revered and respected by all.

He is survived by his sons Freddie and Corey of the home; step-daughter Kellie Minnick; brother Joe (Kim) Altiere, sisters Linda Primmer and Eva (Larry) Gould. Grandson - Ryder Minnick; Nephews – Scott (Dena) Gould, Joey (Kristen) Altiere, and Brodie Altiere; Nieces - Stacey (Shane) Smith, Chelsea Wilk, and several great-nephews and great-nieces. Cousin - Richard (Diane) Shakar.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, parents Fredinando & Patricia Altiere; brother Nick; brother-in-law Weston Primmer; and cousin Kathy McKeon.

A memorial service will be held in Fred’s honor at the Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy, (Rt. 3 South), Bowie, Maryland on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
