Gary Bruce Newton

Gary Bruce Newton, 70, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones in Millersville, Maryland.

Born on September 24, 1955, son of Edward and Eleanor Newton, in the borough of Queens, New York City, he grew up on Arrow Street in Oceanside and graduated from Oceanside High School in 1973.

Gary was a remarkably hardworking and unforgettable man; he was the type of person who never met a stranger. He cherished the simple and joyful things in life. Growing up, he loved playing baseball and he proudly shared his love of the game with anyone who embraced him. He loved traveling, sharing bourbon tastings with his son, and spending slow, peaceful mornings watching the sunrise and the geese gather. Whether he was surrounded by family and friends, visiting his favorite places, sharing his passion for sports and music, or feeling the comfort of a dog by his side, he brought light to every room he entered.

Even as he faced a courageous battle with glioblastoma later in life, he carried himself with that same unwavering strength, grace, and humor. Gary's greatest wish for those he loved was that they find happiness every single day and seek out joy in life. His infectious laughter, wisdom, and warmth will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is lovingly remembered by his children, Danielle, Michael, and Christina; his grandchildren, Devin, Hunter, Parker, and Payton; his siblings, Dennis, Cheryl, and Keith; his daughter-in-law, Cherie; and his sisters-in-law, Jacqui and Eileen. He is now reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Edward and Eleanor, and his brother Jeffrey.

Though our hearts are forever changed, we take comfort in knowing that his love, wisdom, and strength will remain with us always. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

The family will be holding a private ceremony to commemorate Gary's life.
