Glenn Dean Anderson passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, from complications after battling three different cancers—a disease he bravely defeated twice before over eight years, with the third recurring in September.
He was born February 11, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Virginia Elinor (Lindbloom) Anderson and Enoch William Anderson, and spent his formative years in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.
He joined Air Force ROTC while attending the University of Kansas, where he earned his BA in Business Administration. After graduating, the Air Force stationed him at Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts, where he met Mary Louise LaVallee, whom he’d marry and cherish for fifty-four wonderful years. After separating from the Air Force as Captain in 1972, Glenn returned to school and earned a Masters degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
They moved to Connecticut where they raised their three children. The children later settled in Maryland, Virginia, and Texas.
Throughout their marriage, he faithfully attended the Catholic Church, formally converting to Catholicism in his final two years.
A boyhood dream of driving trains came true when he joined Army Reserves in 1980. For the next 10 years he was assigned to the Transportation Detachment and drove trains hauling munitions and other supplies ready to ship
to our service men and women overseas.
His was employed as a Systems Analyst at Southern New England Telecommunications in Connecticut until retirement. Bored in retirement, he joined Mary Louise teaching English, accounting, and insurance billing at Branford Hall Career Intstitute until second retirement in 2013 (her first). Afterward, they moved to Maryland to be near their daughter. Mary Louise and he travelled the world and every corner of America, collecting memories.
He was totally devoted to his children and grandchildren—they were his greatest fulfillment and joy. All three children, their spouses, and eight grandchildren share close, harmonious bonds. His children raise their families in his example. His spirit lives on in everyone he touched, especially his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister Janice Werner.
He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Louise; children Marc and his wife Lisa Wallenhorst Anderson (Virginia), David and his wife Laura Russell Anderson (Texas), and daughter Ellen and her husband John Fitzmaurice (Maryland); eight cherished grandchildren (four boys and four girls); and sister Judy Anderson of California.
