With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Guenevere Theresa David, who departed this life on Feb. 27, 2025, at age 83 in Lanham, Maryland.

Guenevere was a beloved educator and talented seamstress.

She was born on Dec. 12, 1941, on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. She served as an educator for over 30 years at Lockhart Elementary School. Guenevere was also a passionate seamstress who was known throughout the community for her unique crafts and her attention to details.She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Clifton M. Brathwaite; parents, Bassanio G. David and Eulalie S. David; and siblings, Bassanio G. David Jr., Elvin A. David, Lloyd P. David, Verne C. David, and Arlene L. Swan.She leaves behind cherished memories with her daughter, Angelina L. Toussaint; son-in-law, Lazarus G. Toussaint; as well as her grandchildren, Azaera and Zian Toussaint.Guenevere is also survived by her siblings, Franklin Jarvis and Janice Estrill; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Sprauve David, Marilyn Turnbull David, and Keva McNeil David; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family, and dear friends.Among those who will miss her deeply are her best friends, Jenita Jackson and Edwita “Tin Tin” Hart, and bonus sisters, Roslyn Jacobs, Alda Jacobs and Hilarine Caines.Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for family and friends will forever remain in our hearts.Relatives and friends in Maryland are respectfully invited to attend her viewing on Friday, March 28, from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Moravian Church in Upper Marlboro. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., with interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
