In Loving Memory of Harold Eugene Lacy Sr.

November 17, 1935 – June 15, 2026

Harold Eugene Lacy Sr., of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, peacefully departed this life on June 15, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born on November 17, 1935, Harold was the beloved son of the late Elijah Edward Lacy and Annie Ruth Lacy. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Alzonia Cecelia Lacy, who passed away on November 20, 2005. Harold and Alzonia met at a dance, fell in love, and were married on May 15, 1957. Together they built a loving family and shared many cherished years together.

Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army and dedicated his life to caring for his family. He was a full-time caregiver not only to his children, but also to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. His family was always the center of his world.

Known for his warm personality, sense of humor, and compassionate spirit, Harold had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went and brought joy to everyone around him. He enjoyed cheering on his beloved Washington Redskins, following politics, playing checkers and Scrabble, reading the daily newspaper, and enjoying a cup of coffee. He also had a well-known love for ice cream and music, especially listening to The Temptations, whose songs often brought him joy and fond memories. Above all, he treasured the simple moments spent with family and friends.

Harold was an amazing brother to his brother, Edward Lacy, and his sister, Shirley Lacy Hopson. He was the world’s best father to his daughters, Julie Josette Lacy Bryant and Sarah Beatrice Lacy, and his sons, Robert Bernard Lacy, Harold Eugene Lacy Jr., and was preceded in death by his son, Alphonso Anthony Lacy.

He was the proud grandfather of Jennifer Broadus, Jacqueline Lacy, Adrienne Lacy, Joanna Lacy, Scott Bello, Brittany Taylor, Jillian Lewis, Sarah Bello, Blaire Bryant, Paul Bryant, Tamara Lacy, and Kalli Lacy.

He was also blessed with a large and loving family of great-grandchildren: Isaiah Foxx, Jeremiah Foxx, Katarina Vanderbort, Yvonne Alexander, Leah Foxx, Ariel Foxx, Genesis Bello, Josiah Bello, Bella Stone, Brian Stone, Gabrielle Bryant, Titus Lacy-Jackson, Wyatt Lacy, Lucas Alexander, Theodore Alexander, Tamir Lacy-Jackson, and Teagan Lacy-Jackson.

Harold was further blessed to see the next generation grow with his great-great-grandchildren, Malani Foxx and Noelle Foxx.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter-in-law, Susie Lacy, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and love.

Harold’s legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and devotion to family will live on through the many lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
