With deep love and gratitude, the family of Helen Piccirilli announces her peaceful passing on May 26, 2026. Helen’s final days were spent surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff at Spring Arbor of Crofton.
Helen was born in Baden, PA, the youngest of twelve children of the late Michael and Mary Kohanich Mutz. She was preceded in death by her brothers Michael, Joseph, Frank and Anthony Mutz, and her sisters Veronica Modrack, Ann Neiman, Mary Botsko, Catherine Vlasic, Frances Mehno, Margaret Begley, and Agnes Trunzo.
Helen moved to the Washington, DC area in 1958 following her marriage to William Piccirilli. Bill adored her and they shared nearly 51 wonderful years together until his death in 2009. The family will always remember Helen’s unwavering affection and devotion to him, especially during his extended illness.
Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses: Anthony Piccirilli (Kathleen), John Piccirilli (Amy), and Maria Bury (James). She was the cherished grandmother of six: Sarah Piccirilli Bourdeau (Matthew), Vincent Bury (Christi), Mary Piccirilli, Kristen Bury Temple (Zachary), Allison Bury Poe (Philip), and Michael Piccirilli, and the beloved great-grandmother of eight: Robert and Madelyn Bourdeau; Oliver, Finley and Greta Temple; Monica and Elizabeth Bury; and Poppy Poe. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen will be remembered for her dedication to family and friends, her devout Catholic faith, her strength and humility, and her sassy sense of humor. Helen delighted in welcoming others into her home. The door was always open to anyone who needed a warm hug, a good laugh, a place to stay, a delicious meal, a shoulder to lean on, (un)solicited advice, and of course a piece of chocolate.
May she rest in eternal peace.
