Henry L. “Hap/Skippy” Schneider, 61, passed away Wednesday, February 28th 2024. He was born July 3rd, 1962. He was a loving husband, father of 6 (4 of whom were born to Heaven), grandfather, son, brother, mentor, and friend. He grew up in Bowie, MD and graduated from Gwynn Park High School. He continued his education at Sterling College in Craftsbury Common, VT.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Freda M Schneider, mother-in-law Kaye Walters Heath, father-in-law Clarence L “Buddy” Heath Jr., and his nephew, Lukey.
Hap was active in scouts for most of his life - from cub scouts through the honored rank of Eagle Scouts. He thoroughly enjoyed his time with his sons Trey and Drew while they were in cub and boy scouts, as well as their time in Sea Scouts.
He joined the DCFD in 1986 as a firefighter. He retired as Lieutenant and paramedic in 2015.
He is survived by his wife of 34 ½ years, Patricia H “Trish” Schneider; his sons - Henry L “Trey” Schneider III (Hannah L Schneider), Andrew T “Drew” Schneider (Yelena Julia “Lena” Mattson, grandson - Aiden Tyler Schneider; his beloved father Henry L “Larry” Schneider; his sister - Katrina “Kathe’” (Jay) Fogleman and their 3 children, Anders (Toni) and their son Jonah, S.A., and Morgan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Lisa Heath (Larry) Anderson , niece Abbie (Nate) Benzin and their daughter Ellie.
