It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James (Jimmy) Arthur Lusby, Sr. (66), known for his easy going and family-oriented life, he passed away at his home in Bowie, Maryland on Monday, November 10, 2025, after a one year battle with cancer.
Born February 11, 1959, in Washington DC, he was the son of the late Robert Eugene Lusby, Sr. and the late Peggy Lou Lusby (Worley). He was a graduate of Parkdale High School Class of 1978.
Over his lifetime, Jimmy worked in several technical positions including working as an auto machinist, electric motor repair technician for a family business, and most recently retired after a 25-year career as an electrician for Dynalectric, retiring in July, 2021. Following retirement, he enjoyed working as a bartender at Crofton Bowling Center.
In his downtime, Jimmy enjoyed working in his backyard oasis, maintaining his tropical plants, yard and swimming pool. He also enjoyed fixing and upgrading his home, fishing, and playing the guitar. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the New York Jets, Nascar and playing in a family fantasy football league dedicated to the memory of his late son, Jesse. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather and known by many as the man that could fix anything! He was willing to help anyone who asked for his help. He was a kind soul that will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased in death by his son, Jesse Michael Lusby. Jimmy is also survived by Jesse’s son, his oldest grandchild, Michael Cole Lusby Melzer, of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Jimmy is also predeceased in death by his youngest son, Russell Cole Lusby.
He is also survived by three sisters, Debbie Gordon (Ralph), Sandra McCaleb (David), Sharon Klinger (Don), and predeceased in death by his brother, Robert Eugene Lusby, Jr. He is also predeceased in death by his brother-in-law, Belford (Jim) Goode.
Jimmy is also survived by his mother-in-law, Faye Hawkins, who loved him as if he was her own son, and sisters-in-law’s, Donna Brocato (Steve), Vicky Hudson (Buck), and Becky Groff (Brian). He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He will be greatly missed and will live on in our hearts forever with the countless things he taught so many of us about living life to the fullest.
Grandchildren and extended nieces and nephews remember their Uncle Jimmy and Grandad as the man that is up for any adventure and will teach you something useful about life.
