Janice Lorraine Coffey Floyd

October 15, 1939 — May 8, 2025

Millersville, MD

Janice Lorraine Floyd (Coffey) Janice (nickname, Midge) Lorraine Floyd nee Goddard (Coffey) of Montgomery Village, Maryland sadly passed away on the afternoon of May 8, 2025 of natural causes, peacefully in her granddaughter's home where she resided the last few years. Midge, (Grandma, or Gigi as her grandchildren and great grandchildren lovingly called her) was born to Jesse Coffey and Alice Russell on October 15,1939 in Washington, DC. She later graduated from Anacostia High School and spent her career as an executive assistant and later a realtor.

Although she spent nearly 60 years working, she truly enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She hosted endless holidays; especially Christmas and she’d start decorating several weeks before ensuring every detail was cared for and countless Santas decorated throughout the house. She wrapped each gift meticulously with matching ribbons and bows. She was also a lifelong Washington Redskin fan and spent many Sundays (cold, wind, sleet, rain) dressed in burgundy and gold with her hog nose, buttons and helmet earrings at both RFK and FedEx games. Midge also loved to dance, especially partner dancing with her first husband George Goddard as well as eating crabs, a true Marylander. Midge was the epitome of a loving, supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. God gifted her with a big heart and she was always willing to reach an arm and help. Her family will miss her smile and presence greatly.

Midge is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, daughter, Deborah Goddard, and devoted husband, John Floyd. Survived by her son, George Goddard, grandchildren Danielle Goddard-Ellis, Amanda Goddard, Jeremy Funkhouser, Mallory Malla, Garrett Funkhouser, and Bobbi Jo Wright and her 11 great-grandchildren.

At her request, there are no formal services, she will instead be interned with her late husband John Floyd at Arlington Cemetery at a later date. If you’d like to send monetary donations, please send it to Hospice of Chesapeake who helped to care for her in her final days with us.
