Jeneive Johana Wallace

June 28, 1960 — January 27, 2024

Bowie

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved sister Jeneive Johana  Wallace, who passed away on January 27th 2024 at the age of 63 due to cancer. Jay as she was fondly known, was born on June 28th, 1960 in the district of Ashkenish within the parish of Hanover Jamaica West Indies, to parents Mae and Headley Spence. She was the 7th child for her parents. Jay attended Ashkenish All Age School and  Rusea’s High School. At the completion of high school, she was accepted into the teacher training program at Bethlehem Teachers College. After graduation from college, she did her internship at the Savanna La Mar Primary School and then continued teaching there for another year. In her ongoing quest to achieve self-actualization, she sought to acquire and utilize greater opportunities and challenges, so she decided to examine and explore the city of Kingston. Upon her arrival in Kingston, she found employment at the Mel Nathan Institute (for troubled youths) where she worked for five years. It was during this exciting period of her life that a handsome young man (Owen Wallace) arrived on the scene. Being guided by cogent wit, prudence, and unrelenting determination, a gentle birth of love pollinated a beautiful flower, and the blossom fumigated the petals of acceptance. No soon after, they got married and Jay migrated to the United States of America. From this union a son, Kahlil Wallace and a daughter, Tahlor Wallace Were born. It further grew into a daughter-in-law Heather Wallace and two grandkids:  Sylvia and Sage Wallace. She is also survived by her four sisters Lilla, Eda, Marlene, and Donna and her three brothers Lowin, Robin, and Stevon. A host of other relatives, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends are too many to mention but are acknowledged.

Throughout her working years she not only worked as a registered nurse but in the latter as a field supervisor/administrator. She experienced great success in achieving organizational goals and objectives through the efforts and cooperation of those who were fortunate enough to be placed within her supervisory care. To say that Jay will be sadly missed is an understatement, but we look forward to meeting with her in the great beyond. It is with depth of our religious belief that we anticipate the day when cruel death shall have died, and eternity becomes the product and extension of our new reality.

 “Crossing the Bar”

Sunset and evening star,

And one clear call for me!

And may there be no moaning of the bar,

When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,

Too full for sound and foam,

When that which drew from out the boundless deep

Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,

And after that the dark!

And may there be no sadness of farewell,

When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place

The flood may bear me far,

I hope to see my Pilot face to face

When I have crost the bar.

-Alfred Lord Tennyson
