Listen to Obituary

Joan Colleen Eubanks (Adams), 83, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, surrounded by family, in Bowie, Maryland, where she spent her final days in the loving care of her daughter, Gina.

Joan was born in California to Richard Eugene Adams and Peggy Colleen Adams. Because her father served in the Army, Joan spent her childhood growing up in various places around the world. Her experiences gave her an appreciation for people, different cultures, and the many places that became part of her story.

Joan was married to her beloved husband, Jerry Eubanks, who preceded her in death.

For Joan, her greatest career and accomplishment was raising her children. She devoted her life to her family and found her greatest joy in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a loving mother to Patrick Eubanks, Gina Smith, and the late Richard Eubanks. She treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and especially loved being with her great-granddaughter Maeve.

Joan will be remembered for her remarkably positive attitude and her genuine love for people. She was a warm and social person who made friends easily and truly enjoyed spending time with them. She loved being surrounded by people and had a way of making others feel welcome and valued.

She also had many simple joys that brought happiness to her life. Joan loved food, quilting, and the numerous pets she cared for throughout the years. Her greatest life's work was raising her children, watching her grandchildren grow, and spending time with her great-granddaughter were at the heart of her life.

Joan is survived by her children, Patrick (Kim)Eubanks and Gina (Ray) Smith; her nine grandchildren; her great-granddaughter; her sister, Jill Belt; her brother, Richard Adams; and the many friends and extended family members who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Eubanks; her son, Richard Eubanks; her granddaughter, Rebekah Hope Smith; and grandson Raymond Smith III.

Joan leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the family she devoted her life to. The love she gave her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter will remain a part of them forever. Her positive spirit, her love of people, her laughter and companionship, and the countless memories she created with those she loved will keep her close in the hearts of her family and friends.

Though she is deeply missed, Joan’s love and joyful spirit will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
