Our beloved father passed away on May 26th, 2025 after an extended battle with kidney and lung diseases. He is predeceased by both his parents, Robert Oscar and Eleanor Lou (Darrow) Constable.
John was born in New York and was an early traveler. As just a baby, he and his mother sailed by ship to be with his father stationed with the US Air Force in Germany. After a year in Germany the family returned to the US. John grew up in New York, Alabama, Maryland and graduated high school in New Jersey. He attended college briefly in New Jersey but moved to Maryland to be closer to where his family lived at the time. He began working for the government and spent a summer in Dakar, Senegal working on a worldwide weather project.
When he returned home, he started a career with the government in a printing office, and remained there until retirement. While working full time and raising his children, John earned an Associate’s degree in Business Management.
John was devoted to his family. Although his immediate family settled back in New York, he remained in Maryland where he married and had 4 children. For years, John went in early to be there when his kids got home from school. He was there for every sports practice, game and school event they had. Even through his kidney transplant, he made sure his children knew they were safe, loved and was always there cheering them on.
John was known for his sense of fun, his laugh and love of cars and motorcycles, traits he passed down to his kids. He loved theme parks and roller coasters, time at the beach, go-carts and mostly to be surrounded by his kids and grandkids. In retirement he restored a classic 1970 GTO with his two sons. John could fix or build anything and was always there to lend a hand to whoever needed it.
John is survived by his children and grandchildren: Andrea (Ryan), Johnny, Jeffrey (Maddy) and Allison (Chris). Grandchildren: Theodore & Ava Morse, Charlotte & Noah Vazquez, and Oscar Constable. John is also survived by his brother Steven (Maureen) and two sisters, Joanne (Ken) and Barbara, and several nieces.
