John A. Molster

November 13, 1931 — January 14, 2026

Catonsville, MD

John Anderson Molster, 94, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026. The son of William and Gertrude Molster, John is survived by his brother William A Molster, Jr of Gaithersburg, Md; children: John, Jr. (Patricia), Michael (Julie), Bridget Byrd (David) and Martin (Anne Marie); 5 grandchildren: Dallas, Alexander, Olivia, Georgia, and Ryane; and four step-grandchildren: Suzanne, Rebecca, Madeleine, and Miranda. John is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen B Molster.

John was born in Washington, DC. He joined the United States Air Force in February 1952 and was honorably discharged in February 1956, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. John grew up across the street from his wife, Kathy, on S Street, NW in Washington. Reuniting years later, the two married in May 1962. The couple moved to Crofton, Maryland, in 1968 to rear a family and lived there for almost 30 years. John spent over 30 years working at Riggs National Bank in Washington, DC, retiring in 1993. When Kathy retired in 1997, the pair moved to Ocean View, Delaware.

John was active in local communities, volunteering with the Crofton Athletic Council in its early years, and continued his volunteer work in Ocean View as a member of the town planning commission. John enjoyed woodworking and restoring old golf clubs. He was an avid golfer and could usually be found on the course playing with friends or his sons.

After Kathy’s passing he moved to Brightview Riverwalk in Crofton where he lived for 4 years. He made many friends and was appreciated by everyone there.

A gathering in his memory will be planned for late Spring/early Summer. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donations page has been set up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, building on the wishes of Kathy.
