In Loving Memory of Jonathan Ambrose

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving son and brother, Jonathan Ambrose, who departed from this world on March 9th, 2024, at the tender age of 26 after a long and courageous battle with depression and alcoholism.

Born on October 17th, 1997, Jonathan brought immense joy, love, and light into our lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. Jonathan grew up in Anne Arundel County Maryland and attended Severna Park High School where he met a group of remarkable, loving, and supportive friends that he affectionately referred to as “squad”.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing video games, listening to and creating music, and having long philosophical discussions.  He loved listening to his music loud, and his family loved his headphones.

Jonathan was an exceptional individual whose compassionate and caring nature endeared him to everyone he encountered. His selflessness knew no bounds, and he consistently placed the needs of others before his own. Whether offering a helping hand or a comforting word, Jonathan's generosity was a constant source of inspiration to those that he loved.

Jonathan, a beacon of creativity, possessed a brilliant mind that effortlessly intertwined with his boundless imagination. Beyond his intellectual and creative gifts, Jonathan was a pillar of support and compassion for anyone whose life he touched. Despite facing his own internal struggles, Jonathan remained a source of strength for those he loved. He never hesitated to check in on friends, offering unwavering support and a compassionate ear. His kindness and understanding were a testament to the beautiful soul that resided within him.

Jonathan is survived by his mother, Leslie Ambrose; his father and stepmother, Mark and Toni Ambrose; his sister and brother-in-law, Amanda & Chris Lord; his grandparents, Karl and Lucille Cocke; his aunts and uncles, George Cooke (Michelle), Steve Ambrose (Karen), Dan Ambrose (Donna), Jana Ambrose as well as his beloved cousins and a multitude of friends. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Ed and Ann Ambrose; and Uncle, David O’Konski.

Jonathan's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but we choose to remember him for the love and joy he brought into our lives. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the impact he had on us all, acknowledging the importance of fostering open conversations about mental health.

A memorial service in honor of Jonathan Ambrose will be held on March 15th at Beall Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

May Jonathan find the peace that eluded him in life, and may his memory continue to inspire us all to be more caring, understanding, and supportive of one another in the face of life's challenges.
