Josephine Moutran

July 28, 1920 — January 3, 2026

Silver Spring, Maryland

Josephine Moutran July 28, 1920 – January 3, 2026 Josephine Moutran was born on July 28, 1920, in Palestine, and peacefully departed this world on January 3, 2026. She lived a long and healthy life defined by faith, strength, devotion to family. Josephine was a faithful follower of Christ and a devout Orthodox Christian whose belief was not only deeply personal but generously shared.

Her unwavering faith guided her through life’s joys and hardships alike, and she instilled that same trust in Christ in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jean Constantine Moutran, as well as her siblings, all of whom she carried in her heart throughout her life. Josephine was the proud and loving mother of four children: Jamal Motran (wife Amal Moutran), Jacqueline Moutran (husband Shah Rasti), Jeanette Moutran, and Joseph Moutran (wife Lourdes Moutran).

Her children were the center of her world, and she dedicated her life to nurturing them with patience, discipline, faith, and unconditional love. She was a cherished grandmother to Dr. Johny Motran (wife Mariam Motran), Ramy Moutran, Emile Debsia (wife Carmen), Vero Debsia (husband Jamal Makhamreh), Roni Angel (wife Alejandra), Roger Moutran (wife Devon), and Fredrick Moutran (wife Patricia). Josephine was also blessed with great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Ezmeralda Makhamreh (husband Hanna Hassan), Giovani Angel, Sebastian Debsia, Juliana Angel, Sylvana Debsia, Gianna Angel, Sophia Motran, James Motran, Leo Moutran, Lincoln Moutran, Oliver Moutran, and Leilani Moutran.

Her joy in seeing her family grow across generations was one of her greatest blessings. Through the years, Josephine expressed her love most beautifully through acts of service - especially through her cooking. Her recipes were more than meals; they were traditions. Her dishes were eagerly anticipated at every holiday and family gathering, and they will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who were blessed to sit at her table. Josephine’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, the faith she passed down, and the family she built with love and perseverance. Though she has left this world, her spirit, teachings, and love remain forever as the glue of her family. May her memory be eternal.
