Katherine M. Britt was born to Virginia Porter and Howard Manns on June 29, 1926, in Dumfries, Virginia and passed away on December 12, 2025 in Bowie, Maryland. She spent her youth on her family’s farm, creating lifelong memories playing with her siblings and cousins while supporting her beloved grandfather, William Henry Miller. Among her fondest childhood memories were tending to the farm animals and helping prepare home-cooked meals for her family to enjoy. As a teenager, Katherine moved to Washington, D.C., where she settled and began her professional life.
When asked what she was most proud of, she would often exclaim, “My time working at Andrews Air Force Base in food service!” This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that truly changed the trajectory of her life. There, she discovered a passion for serving others; a calling she continued long after retirement through her dedicated service with many Catholic organizations in the D.C. area. When she wasn’t serving her community, she was pouring love into her family, showcasing her incredible sense of style, and lighting up every room with her signature quirks.
Katherine was the devoted mother of two sons, Raymond and Alfonso, Jr., who were truly her pride and joy. She now joins both of her sons, her beloved husband, Alfonso Sullivan, Sr., and her siblings in eternal rest.
Katherine will be remembered for her fierce strength, her feisty demeanor, her unwavering commitment to family, and her deep devotion to the Catholic Church. She lived a beautiful life full of travel, adventure, and abundant blessings. She is survived by her two granddaughters, affectionately known as "her two favorite girls", Aja and Aleah, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
To honor Katherine's memory, please join the family at St. Edward the Confessor on December 27th at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
