Kathy Ann Harrington

September 24, 1949 – October 9, 2025

Kathy Ann Harrington, 76, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025. Born and raised in the District of Columbia, Kathy was one of seven children and grew up surrounded by family and love.

While attending high school, Kathy worked part-time at Neisner’s Department Store in the candy department and volunteered as a candy striper at Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C. She especially cherished her time in the nursery, where her kind and caring nature shined.

Kathy spent her entire career with the Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco), where she met the love of her life, Robert Harrington. The two married and shared 56 wonderful years together, filling their lives with laughter, friendship, and adventure. Known for her dedication and reliability, Kathy never missed a day of work in over 25 years—earning her the nickname “the Cal Ripken of Pepco.”

Together, Kathy and Bob shared a lifelong love of bowling, beginning with duckpins in 1970 before switching to tenpins. Over five decades, they bowled in various leagues, including many years alongside their dear friends Bob and Skip Hill. Kathy later served as secretary/treasurer for two leagues at Crofton Bowling Alley. Their passion for bowling took them on several memorable trips to Las Vegas and Reno for tournaments, often joined by their good friend Lloyd Coleman.

In addition to bowling, Kathy enjoyed playing Mahjongg several times a week with a cherished group of ladies, monthly poker nights with close friends, and weekly bingo games where she and Bob met their dear friends Angela and Charlie Collier.

Kathy faced a difficult battle with cancer following her diagnosis in July 2024. Through every treatment and challenge, she showed remarkable courage, grace, and faith until she was called home to be with the Lord.

Kathy’s generous spirit and warm heart touched everyone she met. She truly loved and appreciated the many wonderful people she encountered through her bowling, Mahjongg, poker, and bingo communities.

Kathy is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Harrington; her sisters Mary Agnes Kuehmichel and her husband, Joanie Noland, and Edna Abramovich; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including her nephew Jonathan “J.T.” Noland, his wife Erin, and their triplet daughters, Elena, Michaela, and Kailyn.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edna and Paul Pessagno; parents, William and Elizabeth Abramovich; brothers, William, Paul, and Edward; and brother-in-law, Clifford Noland.

Kathy will be remembered as a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend—a true giver who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her kindness, laughter, and friendship will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
