It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence “Larry” Laws on May 30, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born on February 10, 1956, in DC, to his loving parents Jean and James Laws. Larry was raised by parents who had a true zest for life and a deep appreciation for the joy of friendship. That spirit shaped him from an early age and stayed with him throughout his life. He carried their example forward, embracing every moment and always making time for the people he cared about.
Larry was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Laws; his four children, Jason (Missy), Lindsay (Joe), Kyle (Ivy), and Kristin (Rob); eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Along with his two brothers Bill (Diane) and Wayne Laws, and many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Larry. His legacy lives on in the love and strength of his family.
Larry had a lifelong passion for cars and racing—whether he was behind the wheel of his ‘69 Mustang, working under the hood, or building intricate model cars, he found joy in every detail. He brought the same enthusiasm to his work, where he was known not just for his dedication but for making every day fun for those around him. Larry also loved spending time at the beach, where family parties and good times created memories that will be cherished for generations.
Known affectionately as “Pop,” Larry was a fun and loving grandfather who never missed a chance to make his grandchildren laugh or feel special. Whether he was cheering from the sidelines, playing pranks, or simply sharing a story, Pop’s warmth and playful spirit made every moment unforgettable.
A true friend to all, Larry had a gift for making people feel welcome, seen, and appreciated. His sense of humor, kind heart, and joyful energy lit up every room he entered. He was always there when someone needed a hand, a listening ear, or a good laugh. Even in the hardest times, he carried a positive outlook and an unshakable sense of hope, lifting up everyone around him with his quiet strength and unwavering optimism.
Larry will be remembered for his infectious smile, generous heart, and the joy he brought into the lives of so many.
